The Lenawee County Planning Commission (LCPC) has several responsibilities mandated by the Michigan Planning Enabling Act (P.A. 33 of 2008), the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act (P.A. 110 of 2006), and the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners. Duties include reviews and recommendations on township zoning ordinance amendments, community master plans, and farmland and open space preservation agreements. The LCPC also hosts an Annual Dinner each year and is responsible for maintaining the County Comprehensive Land Use Plan.

Membership and Staffing

The LCPC is made up of seven members appointed by the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners. In accordance with membership requirements of the Michigan Planning Enabling Act, the members represent a cross-section of township, city, county, and education officials.

The monthly meeting of the Lenawee County Planning Commission is scheduled for 6:00 pm in the Lenawee Room of the Human Services Building (1040 S. Winter Street, Adrian, Michigan).

In order for staff to review zoning proposals and prepared reports for County Planning Commissioners in a timely manner, requests must be submitted by 12:00 noon on the submittal dates in order to be considered by the Commission on the corresponding meeting date.

R2PC Staff Responsibilities

The principal responsibilities of staff are to provide the LCPC with recommendations on zoning amendments; background information on PA 116 farmland agreement applications; and the preparation of meeting minutes and agendas. Staff also arranges the LCPC Annual Dinner.
